This picture is currently hanging in the Chautauqua Room in the Hotel Pattee. It was provided by Corbis-Bettman Archive in NY with permission to use in the room only. Born 1860, died 1925. U.S. reformer, orator, and lawyer. Three times he was losing Democratic candidate for president. Spoke twice in Perry. Winning prosecutor in Scopes trial in 1925; he upheld the right of states to ban teaching of evolution. |
